Happy New Year my fellow cruisers!!! What’s your new year resolution? Best Life Cruise’s new year resolution is to go on as many cruises we can this year and to explore more cruise lines. I’ve listed quite a few tips on what to expect while cruising for the first time. Let’s get into it!
- Do some research on what type of cruise you are interested in. Are you looking for a kid friendly cruise line? Are you into more of a party cruise scene? If so Carnival is the cruise line for you. If not, there are plenty of other cruise lines that will fit your needs and wants.
- Research the ports of call. Look into the ports of call you’ll be visiting and check out what attractions you might want to check out.
- Cruise on older ships you can save money that way.
- Pick the cabin that you’d be the most comfortable with and can afford. No need to stress and penny pitch while on vacation. Keep in mind you’ll spend most of your time outside your cabin anyway.
- It’s best to get your passport but, your birth certificate will work just fine.
- Consider purchasing cruise insurance. You never know what can happen on vacation. For example, if you were to get sick, or you need to cancel your cruise you will get most of your money back.
- Plan your days on board. A cruise is a great way to relax, but there are also lots of activities on board you may want to check out. Spend some time looking into what activities the cruise line offers and plan out your days.
- Consider the drink package, if you are a drinker or love soft drinks. You can also bring 12 cans of non-alcoholic drinks. Soft drinks run you about $3 and cocktail prices start at $12.
- You can bring one bottle of wine or champagne but, there is a cork fee.
- You will pick a time for you to check your bags and board the ship. Don’t show up early or late than the time you choose.
- You do not have to use the cruise line transfers to the embarkation port. It’s not that great of a deal.
- Parking at the port is convenient, but there are cheaper options. For example, some hotels allow you to park your car in their lot. There are other lots near the cruise port that may be cheaper to park in.
- No need to bring cash for ship activities or shopping. You will create a spending account on your sign and sail card.
- No need to convert your dollars to the currency at each port. Most ports accept US dollars.
- Once the ship starts sailing turn your phone on Airplane mode. You save yourself from accruing roaming charges on your phone bill.
- You can check your sign and sail card balance on the TV in your cabin on the second day of sailing.
Stay tune for part two…
XOXO
